<p>Buying a surf leash can be tricky because there are so many different brands being sold in surf shops. Lucky for us there are a lot of really nice surf leashes being made right now and what it comes down to is personal preference. If your learning how to surf I suggest getting a regular surf leash and not a pro comp model. DaKine makes some of the best surf leashes around and I haven’t snapped one yet… I can’t say that about a few other surf brands like OAM. The DaKine pro comp surf leash is one of the thinnest and works well with small wave surfboards like quad fishes. Creatures of Leisure and FCS make really nice surf leashes also. A lot of surfers make the mistake of not putting their leash sting on correctly and I have even seen pro surfers make this mistake. If your leash sting is super loose it eliminates the built in rail saver and the leash string will eventually slice into the tail of your surfboard so make sure your surf leash string is on your surfboard properly. Always remember to never depend on a surf leash, leashes and surfboards break when you need them the most.</p>
