Buying a surf leash can be tricky because there are so many different brands being sold in surf shops. Lucky for us there are a lot of really nice surf leashes being made right now and what it comes down to is personal preference. If your learning how to surf I suggest getting a regular surf leash and not a pro comp model. DaKine makes some of the best surf leashes around and I haven’t snapped one yet… I can’t say that about a few other surf brands like OAM. The DaKine pro comp surf leash is one of the thinnest and works well with small wave surfboards like quad fishes. Creatures of Leisure and FCS make really nice surf leashes also. A lot of surfers make the mistake of not putting their leash sting on correctly and I have even seen pro surfers make this mistake. If your leash sting is super loose it eliminates the built in rail saver and the leash string will eventually slice into the tail of your surfboard so make sure your surf leash string is on your surfboard properly. Always remember to never depend on a surf leash, leashes and surfboards break when you need them the most.

Fifty Fifty Waveskate surfboards shaped by Ben Wei are sick surfboards designed for busting airs and pulling skateboard inspired tricks on a surfboard. I think that trick surfboards like the 5050 Waveskate have a place in the future of modern surfboard design. The Fifty Fifty Waveskate surfboard I bought from Surf Ride surf shop over the summer was a lot of fun to take out on smaller days when most surfers are riding fish style surfboards. Fifty Fifty Waveskates are handmade in Oceanside, California by guys who surf, skate and live fun lifestyles. Ben Wei almost did a kickflip on one of his Fifty Fifty Waveskate surfboards awhile back and I think he has a good chance of winning the Volcom surfboard kickflip contest. Below are some pictures of Fifty Fifty Waveskate surfboards and their creator Ben Wei who has put over ten years of research and development into the 5050 Waveskates design. If you would like to buy a 5050 Waveskate contact us and we will help you get in touch with a Fifty Fifty Waveskate rep or let tell you what surf shops have Fifty Fifty Waveskate surfboards in their racks for sale.
